WASP3D to power Egyptian Presidential Elections

WASP3D, a provider of On-Air Real-time 3D graphics solutions has recently secured a project with ERTU (Egypt Radio and Television Union) for the coverage of the upcoming Egyptian Presidential Elections. ERTU, the public broadcaster of Egypt is operated by the Egyptian government. It awarded the contract to WASP3D in April for a turnkey solution within a given timeframe to create on-air news graphics and use augmented reality in election presentations.

The project is already underway and is due to be completed in time for the elections in Egypt that take place on May 26-27, 2014.

WASP3D will provide ERTU, an option to use its touchscreen-based module, WASPi Mimosa that allows for an analysis-driven, user-interactive presentation. The graphic templates can be designed in the Drone Designer module and live automated data feeds. It can also integrate manual data using the Comb Builder application. The user has the flexibility to either present the content directly on the touchscreen using WASPi Mimosa or trigger the graphics via the production control room.

Commenting on the project, Mr. Deependra Rathi (Vice President) from WASP3D said: “The solution has been designed for ERTU under a very stringent timeline. For WASP3D it’s a very prestigious project yet challenging at the same time because of the political situation in Egypt. The project entails bulky live and historic data from multiple sources and the need to package and present the content more interactively.”

WASP3D will also provide a solution to integrate the election data seamlessly into immersive tracked virtual graphics using its augmented reality system. In addition to these, ERTU will receive custom application development for processing election data and further integration with real-time on-air election graphics. The users will be able to create live/automated graphics and elements (text, images, videos & animations) that allows dropping them into the scene at the press of a button.

“WASP3D assembled a team of highly experienced project managers, system designers, and engineers as well as graphic artists for this project. Our partner SI Systems Design is providing us with the necessary support to execute this project,” added Rathi.

A team from ERTU will be going to WASP3D’s headquarters based in Noida, India to receive hands-on training to use these solutions. Part of the training will also be held in Egypt at the ERTU headquarters.
